Welcome to the Q1 issue of GDS Review, providing you the latest news and announcements for defence security from across the globe.

In recent news, Varnish Software, a pioneer in caching software and high-performance content delivery, has announced a new release of its Varnish platform for API and web acceleration, streaming and DIY content delivery networks (CDNs). Varnish 6.0, the commercial version of Varnish Cache, includes new features for security, cloud deployments, cache invalidation and full HTTP/2 support. The new release is currently under limited availability.

In this month’s edition, we look at how a new survey released by Barkly, the company advancing endpoint security by combining the strongest, smartest protection with the simplest management, finds that the complexity and challenges associated with the Spectre and Meltdown patches will result in companies delaying future patch rollouts. 72% of organisations planned to slow future rollouts, and yet 50% of organisations lack a strategy for securing endpoints that are waiting to be patched, leaving companies exposed.

Elsewhere in this issue, Arete Advisors, a trusted and elite group of cybersecurity experts, which provides incident response and digital investigation services, and Coalfire have announced the launch of a formal partnership providing a comprehensive Incident Response (IR) Retainer offering. We take a closer look at this new partnership, and the services that they will offer.

Lastly, leading provider of Zero Trust Security through the power of Next-Gen Access, Centrify has signed a new distribution deal in Europe with StarLink, one of the fastest growing value-added distributors in the Middle East, Turkey and Africa (META) region. We discover how StarLink has been supporting Centrify’s business growth in the Middle East and Africa (MEA), including South Africa for the past year, and its role now expands to cover the entire EMEA region.
